How to boost your Tasting Party
Attendance? There are many factors that influence attendance,
most of them have to do with things out of your control.
Here's what "I" can do:
PUT GUESTS FIRST & KEEP
RECORDS:
- Schedule my party around the
guests' free time
- Keep a calendar list of attendee's
free/busy days/times
- Keep a list of all RSVP's, usually
people automatically give a
reason for not being able to attend.
- When they call to say they cannot
attend, ask if this sounds
interesting. If they say "yes", then ask
what days/times are better for
them and keep a record of it.
ESTABLISH VALUE:
- When describing the party, sound
excited and convey how much fun it is, how much we
all learn. I do this by visualizing how I want it
to be in my mind's eye. I try to tell them just enough
to get them interested.
- Drawing Card. Mention another
person that might be there, such as a friend that
has a lot of knowledge or is especially fun to be
with. Or, something interesting that happened at my
last Tasting Party.
- Invite to come contribute. When
they talk about what they do for
their own health, no matter how small it is, I tell
them "that's great,
and right along the lines of what we talk about in
our Tasting Parties. "Would you come and share
with us what you know?"
- Reminisce. When someone apologizes
for not coming, or when you see someone who didn't
attend, excitedly mention (in a few words) the great
time you had, and how you can hardly wait 'till they
are able to come, "I think you'd love it!".
INVITATIONS:
- Just send it! When sending invites,
if someone comes to mind don't mull over, just do
it! The most unlikely sometimes surprise me!
- Be prepared. I always keep invitations
with me so I can hand one to a new aquaintance, if
they don't come I am at least building my mailing
list!
- Persistance. Many people can't
make it to several parties, Finally
they walk in saying, "I finally made it!"
- Magic of the Human Voice. Calling
those who haven't RSVP'd to say simply, "Hope
you can come!" seems to increase attendance.
MIND WORK:
- Bottom line, I know that what
I am offering is invaluable.
- Keep my mind on "giving";
receiving eventually follows.
- Keep my mind on the task at
hand & the sheer enjoyment of it.
- My only job is to invite, the
rest belongs to the universe; I am
concerned only with what I have control over.
This business "does"
work, just a matter of time and numbers.
Everyone, please send your input for what works for
you so that we can all benefit. Good luck and keep going!
Love, Susan Thompson :)
