The In's and Out's
of the LA Online Forum
The following instructions are
for Leadership Alliance (LA) members who are subscribed to
the LA Online Forum. If you are receiving email from the Online Forum, these
instructions are for you.
If you are not a member of LA
and would like to join, please visit our Membership
page.
You may find it helpful to print this
page so you can refer to it while you're
on the Yahoo site. The Yahoo site will open in a new window, so you can
switch back and forth between the Yahoo site and this page if you prefer.

Visiting the Leadership Alliance
Yahoo site
The LA Online Forum is actually
a Yahoo Group, and access to the LA Yahoo site is restricted to
LA members who are members of the LeadersAlliance group at Yahoo. If you
are receiving email from the online forum, you are a member of this Yahoo
group. But for Yahoo to recognize you as a member of the group, you must
register with Yahoo, sign in, and the email address subscribed to the
list must be associated with your Yahoo Profile.
1. Go to our Yahoo site at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LeadersAlliance.
The Welcome message should include
your Yahoo ID and the email address that is subscribed to the Yahoo Group is the address at which you receive email messages from the group.
Also, there should be a number of links on the page, ie words that are
bright blue and underlined, including the words on the left of the screen:
Home, Message, etc. If these words are not clickable, please follow the
instructions below to join Yahoo
if you are not already a member and to associate your email address with
your Yahoo Profile. Then return to step 2 to explore the Ins and Outs
of the Yahoo site.

The following steps assume that you
have completed the instructions below if necessary,
and that the words you see in bold in the following steps are links you
can click. If not, please follow the instructions
below to join Yahoo if you are not already a member and to associate
your email address with your Yahoo Profile. Then return to step 2 to explore
the Ins and Outs of the Yahoo site.
2. Look at the list of
options along the left-hand side of the page. Here you will see that Messages
is only one of many options available to you as a benefit of your
membership.
3. At the far right, you'll find Edit My Membership.
Click on this link and see what's there. This is where you can go to change
your delivery options from Individual Messages to Daily Digest or No email.
Use Daily Digest if you prefer to receive one combined email message from
the list each day. Use No email if you prefer to read messages on the
Yahoo site rather than receiving them by email. Also use No email if you're
going on vacation and want to stop your email temporarily - just change
the option to No email and then change it back when you return. (You can
also change delivery options by email. See instructions in each email
message from the list.) This is also the place to change the email address
to which messages from the list are sent. Take a look and see what else
is there and use the" Help" function on that page if you have
questions.
4. Use the back button on your browser to return
to the Leadership Alliance Yahoo Home page.
5. Check out the different options at the left-hand
side. Click on Messages. This is where you go if you don't want
the digest version or individual messages. You can just go here at your
convenience and check out today's, last week's or last month's messages.
You can also view messages by thread. At any point you can click on the
"Help" function and find lots of answers.
6. Return to our Yahoo Home page and click on Post.
This is where you can go to post a message to the list. This is a great
way to get your questions answered. The other option is to put the Leaders
Alliance online forum in your address book. That way you can post a message
without being at this Yahoo site. That address is: leadersalliance@yahoogroups.com.
7. Now try the Files Section. You'll want
to check out this "Files Section" on a weekly basis to view
any new additions to help you build your business.
8. We occasionally use the Poll options. Check
to see if there are any open polls.
9. Next check out the Links area. Here you'll
find links to the Leadership Alliance web site and various forms that
are on that site and other useful sites. We encourage you to post links
that you've found helpful in building your business.
10. Then finally, there's a live Chat Room.
To check it out you'll need two people.
Well there you have it
the Virtual Tour.
10 reasons to join the Leadership Alliance. And don't forget to send
your
(non-member) friends to the LA website at
SimplexityLeaders.org.
That way they can print out the membership form and join in the fun.
Note: The Ins and Outs of the Yahoo Site
was written by Jean Kerbel and modified by Margaret Dexter to reflect
technical changes.
This is the way you Join Yahoo and Sign In
Our messages and files for the LA Online Forum are password
protected so everyone in the planet can't just cruise in and read them.
I'm sure you recognize the importance of doing this. Because the online forum is actually a Yahoo group, this is done is with a Yahoo Profile,
ie a Yahoo ID and password.
Before you can access the members only information
on the Yahoo site, you must join Yahoo - it's free. Follow the instructions
below to join Yahoo and establish a Yahoo Profile (if you are not already
a member) and associate the email address that is subscribed to the online forum with your Yahoo Profile.
Go to the LA Yahoo Groups page at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LeadersAlliance.
1. If you see the
link (Already a member? Sign in to Yahoo!), click on that link
and follow the instructions on the Yahoo site.
If you are not a member of Yahoo, you will be guided
through the registration process. You will be asked to select a Yahoo
ID and password. Choose a Yahoo ID you can remember - your
name or an abbreviation of your name is a good choice. This ID will
be visible to other members of the online forum. It's best to use a password
that you can remember and others can't guess - and write it down!
You will be asked for an "alternate email
address". Specify the email address
that is subscribed to the online forum as your alternative email address
- this is very important.
You will also be asked some personal information
- your date of birth, your zip code, etc. If you later lose your password
and ask for password help, you will need to provide this information.
Honesty is the best policy here, but if you really want to lie about
it, remember what you used.
As a part of this process, Yahoo will send you
an email message to verify that the alternative email address you specified
is really is your email address. You cannot proceed
with this process until you get the email. The message usually
arrives quickly, but it could take hours or even days for it to arrive.
All you can do is wait for the message. Please note that the moderators
and the LA office cannot help you with this process - joining Yahoo
is between you and Yahoo.
When you get the email message from Yahoo, follow
instructions in the message and on the screen to validate your new Yahoo
Profile and complete this process.
When you complete this process, return
to our Yahoo Groups page at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LeadersAlliance.
The Welcome message should now contain your Yahoo ID and email address.
2. If you see the link (Already receiving
group email?), click on it to complete
the process. Please do not click on the button "Join This
Group" because you are already a member of the group.
When you complete this process, return to our Yahoo
Groups page at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LeadersAlliance.
The Welcome message should now include your Yahoo ID and email address.
You are ready to explore our Yahoo site. Return to Visiting
the Yahoo Site at the top of the page.
If you encounter difficulty with this process, please email the moderators and ask them to send you a Request for Profile which may simplify the process for you.
Please remember that the process
of registration and sign in with Yahoo is
between you and Yahoo - our moderators can't help you and they can't do
it for you.
If you need additional information, please use the Help function on the
Yahoo site.
